I was born and raised in Springfield and my roots here are deep. My Great Grandfather was the “father” of Lake Springfield and served as Water Commissioner for 32 years. I have spent my entire professional life helping others. I have been a realtor for 11 years and am a full-time real estate professional. If you’re thinking about buying a new home, I can help you get the most home for your money. Through the years I have helped many families and single people find the home of their dreams. I am very patient and go out of my way to help every client through the complete home-buying process. I pride myself on being a tough negotiator and will help you get the best deal.
If you want to list your home, I can help you determine the price and take care of all the details of successfully marketing your home. As an owner of Levi Home Construction and a Certified New Home Specialist, I have an expertise that most other realtors don’t share. I know new homes and new home construction. I will help you get the most money when you sell your home.
I have been married to my wife, Peggy, for 40 years. Together we raised three children and have been blessed with seven grandchildren. I enjoy golfing, hunting, and reading books. I am Past President of the Capital Area Association of Realtors, Treasurer-elect for the Illinois Association of Realtors, an elder at my church, a Capitol Township Trustee, a member of Downtown Springfield, Inc., and a member of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce. In 2011 I was chosen Realtor of the Year for the Capital Area Association of Realtors.
I have been involved in building more than a dozen Habitat for Humanity Homes including two trips leading crews of Illinois’ Realtors in rebuilding Katrina-damaged areas in Mobile, Alabama and coastal Mississippi.
My personal goal is to do whatever I can to help you find the home of your dreams or to sell you existing home. My purpose is to always treat you with respect and honesty that my actions might reflect well on my faith and my industry.

Shelley Berendt, REALTOR, GRI, ABR
I am originally from the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, but have been living in Springfield for over 10 years. I entered the world of real estate when my youngest started going to school and am now a full time Realtor. I am devoted to my family and to my job. I believe that being a person first and a Realtor second allows me to be genuine with my clients and always view them as people with dreams and not just another transaction. I work hard to see that those dreams come true.
I have 3 children and can relate very well to the educational concerns of parents when purchasing a new home. Since I am not a native of Springfield, I also understand very well the lifestyle adjustments of people relocating to the Springfield area. I am also an Accredited Buyer Representative allowing me to better serve my buyer customers in an ever changing marketplace.
I take great pride in playing such an important role in so many people’s lives. No two home sales are the same; each brings different challenges and exciting events. I look forward to helping you achieve your real estate related goals.
If you see me on the sidelines of the soccer field, in the bleachers of a volleyball game, at church on Sunday, or taking part in any of downtown Springfield’s many events, make sure you say hello. I am never too busy to answer any of your real estate questions.
Tammy Burmgarner, REALTOR, GRI, ABR
I was born and raised right here in Springfield. Other than a few years my dad was stationed at the Panama Canal while he was in the Army, I’ve spent my life here. After all these years in Springfield, I’ve become very familiar with most areas of town, the schools systems in and around town, and just about anything else you might need to know. I have always had an interest in real estate, so I decided to take that to the next level by becoming a Realtor in 2004. It’s such an honor for me to help clients with one of the biggest decisions they will make in their lives. I still take great joy in sharing the experience with a client when they walk into a house and know it’s “the one”. I also own and manage my own apartment building, so I am familiar with that aspect of real estate as well.
I am a graduate of University of Illnois at Springfield. I live in Rochester with my husband Shane and daughter Jocelyn. My interests outside of real estate include running, volleyball, photography, camping–anything outdoors really–and spending time with my family. I serve on the board of directors with a mission organization called Hope for the First Nations and also volunteer time at my church and for the local running club.
With all this going on, I may seem busy, but I’m never to busy to answer a real estate question or help you in any way I can. Just ask!
